FAQs

Where are classes held?

1

All 8-week classes are held in person at Kids on 12th School, located at 1112 Chestnut St (Floor 2), Philadelphia, PA 19107. Our space is fully accessible and centrally located in Center City, making it highly reachable via public transportation (SEPTA Regional Rail, subway lines and local bus routes). Paid parking is available directly behind the building and on the street.

Individual Coaching can be scheduled in person or virtually.

Specialized workshops can be scheduled at a location of your choice.

Is there an age limit for classes?

2

Yes. Our group classes are designed for mature learners, and the minimum age to enroll is 16 years old.

I have some prior ASL experience, do you offer any classes for me?

3

Based on community feedback, we are starting with Level 1 classes. Our goal is to add more advanced classes each semester. If you have prior experience but are new to us, reach out so we can better understand the needs of our community and find the appropriate placement for you.

How does sliding-scale pricing work?

4

To make our courses as accessible as possible, we offer sliding-scale pricing between $160–$360 for the 8-week semester. We ask that you honestly evaluate your financial situation and pay the highest rate you can manage. If you have the means to be generous, contributing at a higher level directly helps us fund spots for community members who cannot afford the minimum rate.

What if I cannot afford the minimum sliding-scale rate?

5

You may share what you can pay on the registration form. You’ll be placed on our waiting list, and we’ll contact you if seats remain as the semester approaches.

You can also request a two-installment plan on the registration form and we’ll follow up.

What is your refund policy?

6

Cancel 14+ days before the first class → full refund minus a $20 processing fee

Cancel fewer than 14 days before the semester → eligible for class credit only

After classes begin → no cash refunds, class credit may be offered case‑by‑case
